 Holden HSV W427

Holden Special Vehicles' new supercar, the W427, based on the Holden Commodore (Vauxhall Monaro) and powered by the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 from the Corvette Z06.

The new car, to be produced as part of HSV's 20th anniversary celebrations, will go on sale in August in Australia and just 427 cars will be built.

HSV has confirmed that the hot sedan will develop 503 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque, which means the new model should be able to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph, making it one of the fastest road cars ever produced in Australia.

Few details have been released by HSV, which is owned by Tom Walkinshaw, but a company spokesman revealed earlier this year that the car would feature a number of components developed from the company's V8 Supercar racing program.

Performance features of the concept shown at the Melbourne Motor Show in March included a carbon-fibre rear spoiler, six-piston brakes, 20-inch wheels, a custom induction system and an uprated limited-slip differential, clutch and Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual gearbox. The concept also featured magnetic ride suspension and lowered ride height.

FTL Think: No chance of this one ever reaching the UK but would be nice if someone tried....
