300bhp VW Passat R36 Makes UK Debut

The most powerful series production Passat ever built is now available for sale in the UK market. Offered in both saloon and estate body styles.

The VW Passat R36 is equipped with a naturally-aspirated 3.6-litre V6 engine developing 300bhp and 258 lbs ft of torque.

Drive is channelled via a six-speed DSG gearbox through a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system that can divert torque to either axle depending on the grip available.

The Passat R36 Saloon is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph  in 5.6 seconds while the estate takes 5.8 seconds. Both models top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

Prices for new Passat R36 start at £30,990 on-the-road for the saloon and £32,150 for the estate model with buyers being able to choose among four colours ranging from silver to black, blue and grey.

It's starting to look like the High Speed Rep cars are making a comeback in 2008, and as nice as this is... We bet there are not many sold.
